36 weeks and a Baby Shower
On Sunday, some wonderful friends threw me a great baby shower! I have been so nervous this whole pregnancy because I have absolutely nothing for a little girl! I received some wonderful gifts and can't wait to use all my cute clothes, blankets, etc.! I wish I had some great pictures to post, but I don't. Sorry! I will be sure to keep everyone updated in the coming weeks!

Easter Weekend
We had a wonderful weekend. It started off by joining my mom, brother, Will and his wife and son at the Montgomery Country Club Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday. This was Edward’s first real egg hunt. I’m not really sure why we didn’t take him to one last year…maybe we thought he was too young. There was so much to do at the club. They had several games set up as well as several bouncy houses. The Easter Bunny even arrived in a fire truck (which Edward LOVED). The eggs weren’t really hidden, they were kind of thrown into a roped off grassy area. It was a madhouse when it came time to “grab” your eggs. All Edward wanted to do was open the eggs as soon as he picked one up. I’m pretty sure he had a good time!

After the hunt, mom treated us all to lunch since the other half of the siblings were out of town and she hadn’t planned on serving an Easter lunch. We enjoyed the fellowship. Thanks Will and Jacqueline for inviting us to the egg hunt! After lunch we enjoyed a VERY relaxing afternoon at mom’s. Edward really loves being at Gee’s house. She has two precious dogs that he adores and she lets him stay outside until bedtime!!!! Thomas grilled out while we were all entertained by Edward.
Gee taught him how to blow a dandelion
This morning, we got up and Edward saw his goodies left by the Easter Bunny and he even got to hunt for a few eggs. He was so excited that he had chocolate in his eggs and yes, I let him eat a few pieces with his breakfast!
Mom let me decide where I wanted to go to church and I chose to go to the church I grew up in. I haven’t been back to Trinity Church since my wedding day. It was a wonderful sermon and I enjoyed seeing familiar faces.
Thanks mom for letting us spend the weekend with you. We had a wonderful time!!!
Edward’s 2nd Birthday
I know this post is overdue but we’ve been very busy lately! Last Saturday we celebrated Edward’s 2nd Birthday. The day started off with my sister and a friend coming up to help clean my house. Thomas took Edward with him to run errands and I was freed up to bake Edward a cake. It was such a nice morning and we got so much done.
On Sunday, we had Edward’s party at a park in Opelika. At the beginning of the week, the forecast was supposed to be beautiful. As the week progressed, the chance of rain grew and grew. I was so stressed out. The rain ended up holding off until a couple of hours after the party. At this park, they have a train that goes around the park. You can rent it for parties. I decided that since Edward is really into trains, I would rent the train for a little while and invite a few friends. Man, birthday parties are chaotic!!! I felt like by the time we were finished with cake and ice cream, everybody was leaving and I hadn’t even had a chance to visit!!
Edward had a blast. He had about 6 friends there and the rest was family. He really enjoyed riding the train and playing on the playground. I still can’t get over that my baby is 2!!!
We appreciate all the family and friends that came. It was an overwhelmingly fun time. (P.S. these pictures are out of order. Sorry!!)
Excited about the train ride!

Two Terrific Years
Just when we weren't sure if we would be able to have a child, God blessed us with this precious little boy. I could go on and on about the joy he brings us. I have been so blessed to be able to stay home and watch him grow from a dependent baby to a very independent toddler.
He talks nonstop and we are amazed daily at the new things he learns. He still loves being outdoors and really hates to go in at the end of the day. He loves all things boy: trucks, trains, tractors, airplanes, balls, etc. He can count to ten but often skips number four. He attempts to sing his A,B,C's but quickly changes the song to Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and then to Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. He definitely has a mind of his own! He is pretty independent but still loves for us to sit on the floor and play with him. We've moved him into a twin bed in order to make room for the baby. He has somewhat of an interest in the potty, but we aren't pushing it. When he's ready, he'll let us know.
Happy Birthday little guy! We love you!!

So Sweet
Since my pregnancy brain has caused me to lose things and forget them, I have two things I want to blog about in an attempt to remember them later so that I can record them in Edward’s book.
First, we always try to say a blessing before our meals. I guess Edward has really been paying close attention because if we sit down and eat in a rush, he always reminds us to say the blessing. For the last two weeks or so, when we sit down, Edward folds his hands together, bows his head and says “blessing”. It is too cute for words. In the mornings if I sit down with him he reminds me to say the blessing and if Thomas sits down with him a few minutes later, then he wants to say it again with his daddy. Sometimes we ask him if he wants to say it and he will nod, bow his head and whisper something. It’s precious!
Second, we have been talking to Edward about baby sister. We will ask him “Where is Emmy Kate (this is what he calls her) and he will say her name and point to my stomach.” If we tell him to kiss Emmy Kate, he will kiss my stomach. We have started telling him that the crib in his room will be Emmy Kate’s in a few months. Edward goes to a Children’s Day Out program at our church four days a week. Over the last couple of days, I have had two teachers tell me that he will go get a baby doll and feed it a bottle. When he’s done with the bottle, he will turn the baby over and put it on his shoulder and pat it’s back. They also say that he will tell the children around him to “shhhh” because the baby is asleep. This blew me away when one person told me and I almost couldn’t believe it when I heard it again today. He’s been around babies (our niece and my best friend has a 6 month old), but I just don’t know where he learns that behavior. I hope this is a small indication of how he will be when Emily Kate is born. I’ve seen him around other babies at church and he is so gentle and sweet. He loves on them, rubs their face and pats them when they cry. I guess we will see very soon!
