The Heartbreaker

As Brooke was telling us about her day at school yesterday, she told us that she made a boy cry. We asked her what she did to promote that, and she said, "He asked me out, but I told him 'no.' And he started crying." Maybe she'll keep this trend going for another year or 15.

Edward's Baptism

Sunday Edward was baptized. Edward received God's gift of grace and we promised as parents and as a church to raise him to live a faith-filled life. I pray that we can fulfill our promise to the the best of our ability and to raise Edward in a loving, Christ-filled home just as we were brought up. Edward is so precious to us and a true blessing.

Edward had the honor of wearing a very special christening gown. It is 104 years old and was first worn by his great, great grandmother, Margaret Pyne. Margaret was my Mimi's (the late Emily Hughes) mother. She first wore the gown in 1904. Since then, it was worn by my grandmother and her brother, all my aunts and uncles, my father and my cousins. What a wonderful tradition!

It was a wonderful day and we were able to celebrate with most of our family. We thank all of our family for traveling to Auburn to be a part of this very special day. Also, thanks to Lauren, my dear sweet friend and neighbor for all the effort she put into helping me get lunch ready for all of our relatives. I would not have been able to make it through the day without her!

I like to eat, eat, eat...

...apples and bananas and pears, peas, squash and sweet potatoes. Edward loves to eat. We've been feeding him baby food once a night as we explore what he likes and dislikes. Our pediatrician has said to experiment with baby food and treat it as play food since Edward's main source of nutrition is formula. It's so funny to watch him eat. He gets so excited when he sees the spoon headed towards his mouth. The other night, he took the spoon right out of my hand. Here are a few pics!

3 month pictures

Some of you have been asking about how to view Edward's 3 month pictures. I probably shouldn't post this on the world wide web because of all the creeps out there, but I guess I'll just take that chance. To view them, go to http://www.pictage.com/521219 You'll have to register and enter the event key (03272008). DiAnna Paulk did a wonderful job and I can't wait to see the coming months. You can visit her blog via the link on the right hand side of my blog.

Little Moments

I am sure Thomas is going to get tired of me posting these pictures of him and Edward. I simply can't help it. It won't be long before Edward is too old to capture these sweet moments.

Just Beachy

Last Saturday we packed up the car and headed to Gulf Shores for a much needed vacation. For those of you who don't know, Thomas is part of a duo. His band is called T&K (or Thomas & Kevin). He and Kevin (a childhood friend) have been playing at various establishments and for private parties for about two years now. This year they played at the Annual Alabama Revenue Commissioner's Conference at Orange Beach. We decided that we would make a vacation out of this gig. Thomas was bound and determined to make the trip in ONE vehicle. This included luggage for five people (we let Brooke take a friend), his band equipment, and all the gear a baby needs. Please see picture below.

The drive wasn’t too bad. Since we got down there so late on Saturday, we just hung out and didn’t do too much. We stayed at a nice condo on the bay. On Sunday, we drove over to the Perdido Beach Resort where my father-in-law was staying so that we could use his pool (ours was covered by a mosquito net) and beach access. We made the trek to the beach with a cooler, two diaper bags, beach bag, umbrella, umbrella stroller and of course baby E. I never knew going to the beach would be sooooo much work. We let E put his feet in the sand. He didn’t mind it too much but he didn’t care for the waves hitting him. We decided that it would be easier to just hang out at the pool.

Pot (Thomas’ dad) giving Edward his bottle

We have taken Edward swimming several times this summer and he does not seem to mind the water. It always seems to wear him out.

Edward and daddy (Thanks Lolly for the adorable bathing suit with built in diaper!)

Sunday night, we ate at Lulu’s. This was our first time eating there. We were somewhat disappointed. I guess it’s just another tourist trap. We enjoyed the atmosphere. Here are a few pictures from Lulu’s:

Something caught his eye!

Brooke and her friend Hannah

Monday was pretty much an ugly day. We stayed in bed for a while. It was really nice to just relax. After lunch, we headed over to Foley to do a little outlet shopping.

Edward getting his daily dose of the morning news!

Tuesday, we decided we would just stay at the pool. Edward really loves the water.

T&K played Tuesday night for the Revenue Commissioner’s party. I wish I had brought my camera with me. Edward was a good sport listening to his daddy sing but finally fell asleep. It was a fun night and a great end to a short vacation. I can’t wait until he is old enough to understand and enjoy the beach. I hope everyone had a happy and safe summer!!
