Thursday a week ago I decided I would put on my big girl panties and take Brooke and Edward to visit Thomas' Aunt and Uncle in Atlanta. I say "big girl panties" because I despise Atlanta traffic. It makes me a nervous wreck. Brooke and I packed up the car Thursday morning and we headed out of town after we picked Edward up from Children's Day Out. Things went fairly well. We got into some rain, construction and a wreck that turned a two hour trip into one that was a little over 3 hours. Once we got to our destination, we took the afternoon to relax. In the backyard of Thomas' aunt and uncle, there is a train track. The train ran about every 20 minutes or so. Edward was in heaven!! Every time he heard the train, he would stop what he was doing and run to the window! Once the rain stopped, Aunt Virginia took us to a local playground to let Edward play. He loved the wide open space to run in.
On Friday, we headed out to the Atlanta Zoo. There was a chance of rain but we were hoping we would miss it. We packed a picnic lunch and plenty of ponchos. We tried to enjoy the zoo as much as possible. We did get caught in a downpour and had to rush through seeing all the animals. The rain let up for a little bit and we headed to the car to get our lunch. After our lunch in Grant Park, we headed downtown to Centennial Park. Aunt Virginia told us about a waterpad there and she felt like Edward would love it. It was a really nice way to cool off!
Saturday morning, we packed up and headed home. We really missed Daddy!! It was a fun trip and Brooke's last hoorah before school started back.
